The McDonald-Bianculli Flute & Guitar Duo

THE MCDONALD-BIANCULLI DUO

Known for their sensitive performance of chamber music, Kathy McDonald, flute, and Pasquale Bianculli, guitar, have toured throughout Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and the U.S. Among their concerts have been appearances at New York’s Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, and Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts. Other concerts include De Doelen in Rotterdam, the World Trade Center Curaçao in Willemstad, King’s House in Kingston, Jamaica, TheaterForum Kreutzberg in Berlin, playing the music of Carlo Domeniconi.

They toured Europe in 1998 performing in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and France. The duo had the honor of playing music for a New York master class by the legendary mime artist, Marcel Marceau. He improvised a sketch to their music on the spot and applauded the duo. In 1990, they taught at the Jamaica School of Music in Kingston, Jamaica W.I., and performed throughout the island in schools, churches, hotels and on radio and TV as part of a government sponsored program.

In the spring of 2009, the duo performed for the third time in the Netherlands and for the first time in Oslo, Norway at the Oslo Ladegard Museum. Kathy and Pat, along with Harris Becker, began a music festival in rural Quèbec, Midsummer Music Dream/Songe d’été en musique in 2005. The festival brings together Canadian and American musicians for a week of concerts, workshops and private instruction in one of the most beautiful and bucolic settings in the Eastern Townships of Quèbec. This summer’s dates will be August 3 – August 9, 2009. Kathy and Pat live in Brooklyn Heights, NY where they continue to enrich the community with their music.
