The friendship and musical roots of husband and wife duo, Del and Andrea Fisher, goes back come thirty years when they first began to play acoustic guitar together. Twenty years on, in 2009, the two reconnected unexpectedly on a train platform coming home from a Fleetwood Mac concert. This meeting reignited not only their friendship but something much deeper.
In January 2011 the pair married and left their home town of Melbourne, beginning what they thought was to be an indefinite road trip around Australia. They made it as far as Denmark, Western Australia and have been living in the small coastal community since.
Del and Andrea’s poetic and rhythmic folk-style music has received a tremendous amount of support from local and visiting audiences, performing popular acoustic covers from Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marley, Sara McLachlan, Cat Stevens and Jeff Buckley as well as their own original material. Entertaining varied audiences, they have performed at venues including: Rockcliffe Winery, Black Duck Cafe, Denmark Hotel, Albany Hotel, Willoughby Park Winery, Karriview Winery, Vancouver Cafe, The Earl of Spencer, The Waterfront Restaurant, Southern End Restaurant and both Royal Perth and Albany Shows.
The Outback Gypsies first year of music has found its’ own place of expression, culminating into the release of their debut album ‘Unconditional Love’ in January 2012. The CD includes nine original songs, reconnecting audiences to the importance of love and close relationships. Through the joining of Andrea and Del's beautifully sensitive vocals, acoustic guitar rhythms and intimate lyrics, the album speaks for itself as a tribute to the beauty of life's relationships.
Andrea and Del’s music combines warm male and female vocals, accompanied by the inviting qualities of acoustic rhythm and lead guitar. Their music connects audiences to the heart through original contemplative and intimate lyrics and raises awareness of the importance of relationship, love and freedom. But don't be mistaken, The Outback Gypsies also write and perform up-beat rhythmic songs you can dance and groove to, created by Del's signature guitar slap, Andrea's dancing and overall happy vibe weaved throughout their performance! So, if you enjoy a combination of rock dance beats as well as beautiful ballads, The Outback Gypsies will not disappoint! Together they create a laid-back, warm atmosphere filled with beautiful vocals and individual guitar rhythms and an overall great feeling for their audience!
Reaching an audience who enjoy listening to music that inspires, encourages, uplifts and relaxes!
Writing and performing great songs!
