The Polka Dots

Biography

Sisters Aislin and Nora Kavaldjian began singing together at an early age; in 2008, at ages 15 and 13, they became The Polka Dots for their first performance on the side stage at Watermelon Park Fest in Berryville, Virginia. Originally, Aislin, a pianist, played accordion for the band, while Nora primarily played mandolin. By early 2009 Ais had picked up the fiddle; soon bassist and friend Olivia Zook joined the group. Since then the group has performed at many area festivals, events, and local venues, including the Takoma Park Folk Festival and First Night Leesburg. The girls continue to experiment with new instruments and sounds including the banjo, ukulele, and dobro.
