It's tough to pin a label on The Rust Tones. They are a roots-music salad, drawing influence from blues, Americana, country, funk and Motown-style R&B. Fans compare their music to The Band and Little Feat; like those legendary acts, The Rust Tones use road-tested musicianship and terrific ensemble performances to deliver authentic stories of the common man.
After years spent touring and recording with major and indy label bands, Patrick Donahue formed the Rust Tones in 2005. The band evolved quickly from biker-bar blues outfit to song-driven jam band. The debut record, 'Tales From the Bar,' was listed as a 'Favorite Americana Recording of 2006' by Austin's KOOP Radio.
A follow-up record, 'The Way It Always Goes,' was released in 2010, and the acoustic-blues song 'Shady Side of the Street' received airplay on a number of terrestrial and internet radio stations.
And the band plays on! For 2014, they've released a 3-song EP entitled, appropriately, "Three." Rich harmonies, organic sounds, and spirited performances make this the best Rust Tones recording to date. Catch them in the Texas Hill Country, sharing the South Austin Sound with all who will listen!
