The Soul Immigrants (Uk)

The Soul Immigrants are one of the best Funk & Soul Jazz outfits in the UK! Healer Selecta
You guys are fierce! Carleen Anderson
I Like the way sing! You're a Soul Brother Too!  Charles Bradley
Sunk Without The Funk now that's a tune!! Craig Charles

Hailing from South London,The Soul Immigrants are fine purveyors of energetic Deep Funk (&beyond!) This marks their first release since they reformed in 2011 and is brought to you courtesy of Dry Rooti Records (their own label).Hard and gritty, fat and greasy sees the band back in swinging fashion with the fantastic sounding single The Ghetto (There's No Way Out) an Afro-Funk barnstormer, deeply melodic, super tough and soulful, backed by the equal thrilling 'Sunk Without The Funk' intoxicating liquor to get any party going! Warning you may feel liverish even after the first hearing! This double A sided single is rammed with punchy horns, harrowing hammond, twangy telecaster guitar grooves and a tough sounding live production that highlights their onstage explosive power!

Masterminded by singer/guitarist(and well known Blues&Soul Magazine reviewer) Emrys Baird,a happy go lucky individual who cut his teeth as a teenager with the legendary Funk Ambassadors(who backed the JB'S on their first ever UK tour in the late 80's) Now head honcho in his own right,Emrys sees to it that the band continue to tread a well worn path and a firm commitment in keeping the flames of funk, fuelled and alight!

The Soul Immigrants are:

Emrys Baird Guitar /Vcls
David Bouet Drums
Al Gibson Bass
Stu Ross Keys
Lady Dee Alto Sax
Ian Bailey Tenor & Baritone Sax

The Soul Immigrants have recently played Glastonbury,Craig Charles Funk &Soul Show,Jazz Cafe and countless other places and they also opened for US3 on their recent 2011 European tour.
