The Speks are Ireland's first virtual band for children. They live on a mythical island off the west coast of Ireland called Glasses Island. Everybody wears glasses there!
There are six visually impaired guys in the band: Quince, Naymon, Tommo, Pete, Ed and Rafferty. They play acoustic Irish music for kids. They can all sing and dance...rumour has it that Tommo is the best dancer!
Their first album contains 17 sing-along songs and nursery rhymes set to Irish music. Bob Katz is very impressed with their original idea of using traditional Irish jigs and reels for so many of the songs. You can hear timber flute, fiddle, accordion, banjo, mandolin, tin whistle, clarinet, mandolas and guitars on this album for children.
The Speks are like Riverdance for toddlers so sing along and sing loud!
