Blending country, rock, folk, and blues, The Trubelos are best described as an 'American
Music' band, mixing original and cover songs.
Fueled by powerhouse vocalist Lauren Michaels, The Trubelos' live shows are usually high
energy, with a full dance floor.
During the 2013 season, The Trubelos won the Country category of the Rocky Mountain Battle
of the Bands, and opened for LeAnn Rimes at the Rocky Mountain Music Festival, performed at
the Capitol Hill Denver Peoples Fair, headlined two nights at the Eagle County Fair & Rodeo,
performed at the Music At Meyer’s Ranch Festival, and played regularly at many Denver Clubs.
TheTrubelos' music draws enthusiastic responses from fans of Bonnie Raitt, John Hiatt, Miranda
Lambert and Susan Tedeschi, and the band wins a steady stream of new fans with every
Their debut CD release, “Boomerang Girl,” was released in early 2013. The Westword said:
“There's a lot of energy in the Trubelos' debut long-player, Boomerang Girl, including their up-
tempo countrified rocker "All I Want to Do is You," the blues shuffle of Little Walter's "Little By
Little," and the twangy title cut. Singer Lauren Michaels does a noble job on "Chain of Fools"
After a busy summer playing festivals, fairs, weddings and Denver area showcases, the Trubelos went into the studio in the Fall of 2013, and recorded their second full CD: ‘Tumbleweed Road’. Only one year after releasing their debut CD: ‘Boomerang Girl’, their new effort shows a lot of growth as a band, with the five players really ‘gelling’ together and finding their collective sound on these ten all original tracks.
The difference one year has made is most remarkably heard in lead singer Lauren Michaels’ vocal delivery.
She is truly becoming a force to be reckoned with…and she’s just getting started.
Never content to stick with one genre, ‘Tumbleweed Road’ has the Trubelos going from straight ahead rock,
in the title track, and ‘I Told My Baby’; to full twang Country on ‘Burn This Trailer Down’. The ‘60’s sounding
R&B track ‘When We Get Sideways’ shows off Lauren’s pipes to the fullest. The song ‘Colorado Man’ is one of the band’s signature live tunes at Colorado festivals. Rockabilly and blues shuffles are here as well, sung by Sandy Craig and Kevin Weissman. Sandy Craig penned eight of the tracks, and Kevin Weissman penned two. Craig said: “I‘m really trying to step up my songwriting, and my main goal is to give songs to Lauren that fit her vocal style, and that she can shine on.” Shine she does!
