The Wanted deftly combine early country music – in the style of the Carter family and jug bands of the ‘20s and ‘30s – with blues, bluegrass, rockabilly, classic country and original material to create a compelling eclectic musical style that is at once distinctive and recognizable.
The Wanted are Richard Henderson, Dave Lang, Jeff and Natalie Rogers, and Richard Stern. The band combines traditional instrumentation of guitar, upright bass, mandolin and percussion that includes snare, washboard and tambourine. Intricate three-part harmonies are combined with unique elements such as the Irish bodhran and acoustic lap steel guitar to create a distinctive platform for new interpretations of acoustic country roots music. The result is transformational: for example, unplugged vintage rock ‘n roll performed to a driving Celtic drum.
Recently, the band completed its first CD after two years of production, comprised of 14 songs, 9 of which are original. The self-titled CD was mixed in Nashville, Uxbridge, and Toronto.
The Wanted is regularly featured in prominent roots music clubs and popular country fairs in Southern Ontario.
