The Wanted are an acoustic band that fuse early North American folk music with rockabilly and rock ‘n roll in a distinctive re-interpretation of roots music: The Carter Family meet Chuck Berry! The Wanted have performed all over southern Ontario, playing extended Toronto residencies at such renowned venues as The Gladstone and The Cameron House; headlining iconic Toronto roots clubs such as Hugh’s Room and The Dakota; performing at a wide range of festivals and fairs, including the Eaglewood Folk Festival and the Port Perry Fair; and are regulars at Winterfolk.
WWW.AltCountryForum.nl describes the band’s CD as: “A fine work full of contagious, hip swaying, raucous music…Simply irresistible!” Tracks from the CD have aired on CBC Radio 1 and many other Canadian roots music programs. The Wanted are Natalie Rogers on vocals and guitar; Jeff Rogers on vocals, guitar, harmonica and mandolin; Richard Henderson on vocals and lap steel guitar; Dave Lang on upright bass; and Richard Stern on percussion. With tasty originals and brilliant covers of songs such as Bill Monroe’s Walls of Time and Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots Are Made For Walkin’, The Wanted combine intricate harmonies and traditional instrumentation with unique elements such as washboard, cajon, and acoustic lap steel guitar to create an eclectic musical style that is at once distinctive yet pleasingly recognizable.
