Thelma J. Robinson

Biography

From the woman that brought us songs such as “Waiting On The Lord” and “Lord We Worship You”, Thelma J. Robinson is back with a brand new project, Pressing On!
Although Waiting On The Lord is Thelma’s first musical project, her Christian journey has allowed her to render musical selections throughout the United States for many years. Her accomplished background includes: being a member of the Gospel Music Association (GMA), Urban Gospel Alliance (UGA), Women in Ministry, and Chapters Ark (London, UK) to name a few.

Even with the success of Waiting On The Lord, God expanded Thelma’s musical territory with her sophomore CD project Heal The Land, which was officially released in November 2003. Heal The Land embarked upon the sounds of contemporary worship as does the hit feature, “Lord We Worship You” as well as a little bit of seasoned, old-time gospel music, that is evident in the Mahalia Jackson sound of “New Creature”.

In 2006, Thelma hosted her first ever Higher Praise & Worship Conference, a weekend event held in Augusta, Georgia that was devoted to the concept of praise and worship. The conference featured Mother Willie Mae Rivers, the General Supervisor of the Women’s Department for the Church of God In Christ, Inc. (COGIC) and the renowned Elder Bernice A. King of, youngest daughter of the late civil rights leaders, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King.

With a new direction and a fresh outlook on life, God has put Thelma’s writing abilities back to work with her latest release Pressing On . Pressing On contains some of the most prominent ingredients that have shaped gospel music as we know it today. This new wonderful work will allow listeners to reminisce about the past days of the church and it foretells of it’s new futuristic direction. Teej’s Productions is very excited and elated to present such a woman of class and morality to the world. Thelma’s voice is truly her own. Her genuine love for Christ and gospel music is demonstrated in every word, verse and note she sings. God has given Thelma an overwhelming amount of strength and knowledge throughout her lifetime and her energy and passion is felt in all her stellar performances.

Thelma firmly believes that without the knowledge of one’s past history, people cannot successfully progress into the future. Although gospel music was introduced to Thelma by her paternal grandmother years ago, she continues to educate youth as well as adults about the important role that gospel music plays in today’s society. Robinson says, “Music is a voice that my ancestors used to express their hardships to each other and to God. I use that same music to express my feelings to God and the world.”
