Tim M. Otto

Biography

Tim Otto is a three time Nashville survivor. He lived there in 1983, 1986 & 1990. But more importantly in 1983, Buddy Holly's producer, Norman Petty discovered
Tim just before his first journey to Music City in a little town they call Clovis, New Mexico. Norman and Tim stayed in touch while Otto walked the streets of Music Row trying to get his songs published. Norman decided he liked at least ten of Tim's songs through the mail and published Otto in his Dundee catalog while Tim
worked on Nashville. It didn't take more than three months before Otto had had enough of Music City and so he placed a call to Clovis. Tim and Norman agreed that he should return to Clovis where Norman had two recording studios. The Main Street Theater studio is where Norman decided he wanted to produce Tim with three of Norman's favorite studio musicians. Not long after the productions started, it was found that Norman was suffering from leukemia. Tim Otto was the last Singer/Songwriter to be produced by Norman Petty...he died in Lubbock, Texas in 1984 after a one year battle with his illness.

Cut to: Portland, Oregon 1984. After attending an outdoor Beach Boy concert in Portland, Otto decided to start his own Surf band. Hence was born the worlds first and only "Surfabilly" band...The Surf Cowboys(USA), (also on cdbaby). The four members fronted by Otto took Portland by storm not only with their tight performances but also with their barrage of famous posters designed by Otto.

Tim was also the lead Singer/Songwriter of Seattles Vaqueros & Portlands The Peacemakers Band. Check out "Goodbye Free Love" sometime, (also on cdbaby).

Weather recording in a band set up or performing in the studio alone...Tim Otto has more than proved himself as a Singer/Songwriter over the last thirty plus years. In 2010, Bear Family Records signed The Peacemakers Band to use one of their songs on a 13 CD collection titled: "Next Stop Is Vietnam."
