Tish is a published author, songwriter and music educator. Tish’s writing has been featured on television and radio, and through her participation in book tours and trade shows. Tish writes professionally in multiple genres including work for young readers, autobiographical essays, music tutorials, and guidebooks.
Tish’s deepest artistic satisfaction, however, comes from writing for children – including picture books and children’s songs. She has recorded and released three albums of original songs for children on her music label Rum Tum Music and is currently working on a fourth.
Tish’s writing is fueled by memories of her own childhood as well as the growing up years of her children. Her work as an artist in residence at local schools and her experiences teaching piano, flute, guitar and ukulele to all ages in her private business, The Rum Tum School of Music are additional sources of inspiration.
What underlies everything Tish writes is her love of lyrically communicating the wonders of our world to young people. Her artistic goal is to create songs and stories that touch upon our connection to nature as well as our collective ties to one another. Her works express positive imagery, vivid imagination and shared human experience – for the enjoyment of children and adults alike.
Tish lives in Ashland, Oregon with her husband Don Harriss, a professional musician, composer, web designer, and sound/video engineer.
