I started playing guitar at the age of 12, when I heard the Beatles
album “Abbey Road”. I learned, like most others in those days, to
play by listening to my heroes and play along with their records.
The Beatles were, and I believe they always will be, my favorites.
Although, I admired Creedence Clearwater Revival, Led Zeppelin,
Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and later I got wild about
Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, the Eagles, Larry Carlton, Robben
Ford and many more.
In the early 80’s, I became a member of a funky 5 piece-rock
band called the Bamboo Brothers. We wrote our own songs, and
had a lot of gigs around Denmark, a few in Sweden and Germany
before we finally got signed in 1992 by a small record-company.
Over the next three years we recorded two albums and had a radio
hit with one of my songs "Johnny told Susie" before we got tired
of the struggle and each other, and decided to split up.
Nine years ago I released my first solo album having my debut as
a singer as well. The album was called "Troels Skovgaard" and
the single "Till I found you" had a lot of airplay on the Danish
I released my second album "No Matter How Far I Go" in 2006. It
was a double album including 11 songs and 9 instrumental tunes.
In 2007 "They talk too much" from my debut album found it’s way to the
final of the “2007 International Blues Heritage Contest”. The song
got airplay in Denmark, Finland and Australia.
In march this year (2013) I´m releasing my third record ”The Album – songs of Life, Love and Lies”.
This time I've tried to keep it simple and more based on acoustic guitars and vocals than before.
You might call it a singer/songwriter album, though the blues is never too far away,
still with my usual brilliant playmates:
Niels Ratzer Drums
Dan Rasmussen/Jon Bruland Bass
Michael Sunding Keys and some vocals
Rune Olesen Percussion,
and my beautiful daughter Mikala Bosetti on one leadvocal and a lot of backup vocals.
I must admit that I always need a little help from my friends when
it comes to lyrics.
That’s why I only wrote two of the ten lyrics for this
album and let Mr Mikael Roupè (from the Bamboo Brothers)
and Mr Kim Heibon take care of the rest.
