Dreams Are Like Fire
2012
The story telling chops of Bruce Springsteen and complex simplicity of Tom Petty, yet still cut out of a modern edge of one of the many next generation of songwriting wave-makers like Josh Ritter or Brett Dennen

Bang On Time
2011
Bang On Time is a children’s game. It’s commonly used as a learning tool for helping kids to tell time. The game works as follows: “Read the time in words and then stop the clock when the hands are in the matching position.” I’ve always been stuck on this idea of killing time. Not in a nothing-to-do type of way, but in a, I wish I had more time type of way. These minutes move so arbitrarily. I never feel like I exist anywhere in the present. We live in constant motion and more often than not, we’re not moving at all. The collection of songs on this record, I hold very close. They are songs that are so enmeshed in the last year of my life that I feel exposed when I hear them back. Bang On Time is stripped down, lyrically driven, and thematically rooted in ideas of love, transition, and cyclicality.
