THE EARLY YEARS
Vayne grew up in the small town of Ettrick, Virginia. Her father, an Episcopalian Priest from the island of Barbados and mother, a teacher from the small caribbean island St.Vincent & The Grenadines, moved to Petersburg, Virginia after being offered the opportunity to be the Reverend and First Lady of a local church. A few years later her parents divorced, with her father moving to Brooklyn, New York. It was around the same time that Vayne picked up a pencil and discovered her new hobby, song writing.
Influenced by her summer's spent at her grandparents home in the caribbean, visiting her father in Brooklyn, and her mother's determination to give her children a humble and well educated up bringing in the South, Vayne 's writing style began to develop with few boundaries.
After graduating with a Marketing degree from Howard University, Vayne made the bold decision to pack up her car with everything she owned and move to New York. Waitressing by day, and networking by night she found two partners with whom she shared a similar passion. Together the trio helped to stamp Vayne as the most consistent un-signed female rapper in the tri-state area. With countless features on mixtapes, dvd’s, and the two top hip hop station’s in New York, Hot 97 and Power 105, she grabbed a nice buzz on the underground scene. The buzz was so nice, in fact, it landed her a slot on DJ Kay Slay and DJ Greg Street’s (Kotch Distributed) album “The Champion’s: North meets South”, a feature in XXL Magazine’s “Show and Prove” section, and a production deal with Street Sweepers Entertainment.
Vayne has since decided to take matters into her own hands and founded Johnie & Clyde Entertainment, Inc. In 2012, she expanded her brand with a hat line, the "Vayne Skully" , which became popular through her social media supporters. The line is continuously gaining attention, placements in trendy New York City boutiques, and generating increasing revenue for her corporation. Vayne’s entrepreneurial spirit coupled with her passion to make good music is the fuel she’s using to take the world on by storm! Talented, driven, and focused, Vayne IS the world’s newest icon!
