Venus de Mars has been a staple of the underground music scene both here in
Minneapolis and around the globe for nearly two decades. Forming the band
All The Pretty Horses in 1994, Venus combined elements of punk, goth and
glam to create a truly unique sound.
The band went on to release four studio albums:
ATPH / Queens and Angels on Mpls' TwinTone label / RUIN / & CREATURE,
a live double album:
Dolls with Balls
and toured around the world as the subject of Emily Goldberg's documentary:
Venus of Mars (venusofmars.com)
Seeking greater independence and control over her music Venus teamed with New York producers,
Super Buddha (superbuddhamusic.com) [debbie harry / scissors sisters / antony & the johnsons]
for the 2006 solo release; Trashed and Broken Hearted (iTunes).
While the solo project allowed Venus to realize her creative potential she missed the camaraderie and support of playing in a band.
In 2007 Venus reformed All The Pretty Horses with Jazz Angel on drums and J Evan LeFreak on bass.
10 Bones is the debut album from this line up.
It represents a natural evolution for Venus de Mars combining her ever expanding musical vocabulary and high gloss production
with the raw power trio sound of the legendary All The Pretty Horses.
