Walker Broad

Walker Broad defy being bound by genre, blending strains of blues, jazz, latin and folk into original witty and surprising songs with catchy lyrics, from mellow ballads and blues to bouncy latin inspired foot tappers.

Sandy Walker and Andy Broad started writing together in early 2010. Sandy is a prolific lyricist with a good ear for melody and harmony and Andy has a wealth of chordal and rhythmic ideas.

Sandy's roots are Folky with an interest in Jazz whilst Andy is an established Blues performer also with a side line in Jazz. The resulting original music is a unique blend of all three, with lively Latin inspired foot tappers and Jazz tinged ballads and a couple of out an out Bluesers, every song with its own story.

After a year of working together they had upwards of 15 strong originals and the Walker Broad duo and started working on their first album, titled "A Walk Abroad" (all puns intended :-)) To this end they were joined by bass player Simon Tufnail and percussionist Alan "Blackie" Blackmore with whom Andy had worked extensively in the past.

The resulting album both captures the spirit and energy of their live performances and enabled Sandy to experiment vocally with layered harmonies.

They had some great feedback from the CD launch night on November 21st here's a selection....
