Warren has been playing guitar and singing for many years but has been performing much more in recent years. He sings and plays acoustic guitar, performing songs that tend to be alternative country or folk. He includes harmony as a key part of his performances, collaborating with friends whenever he can. His musical preferences focus on singer-songwriters (Bob Dylan, Patty Griffin, Shane Nicholson and Richard Thompson), country (Emmylou Harris, Dixie Chicks), country rock (Eagles, Crosby Stills & Nash) and alternative country (Buddy & Julie Miller, Lisa Miller). He also has an appreciation of 60s bands like the Beatles, the Byrds and the Beachboys.
Warren has been writing his own songs for several years. These are mainly about his personal experiences and reflections, and his views about environmental issues can be heard in a few protest songs.
He currently plays with a four piece acoustic group, Simple Pleasures, and also plays solo at folk clubs and other venues around Brisbane.
He has recently produced an EP of his own material, including songs that have received the most favourable responses from audiences. The CD includes the song ‘Carry Me’, which has three friends contributing to a great four part harmony.
