Weird Sleeping Kittens

WSK formed in September 2007 at the St. Ives Arts Festival in Cornwall when all 3 members were performing there with another band. Our first public appearance followed shortly after at a private function at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Association. We released our first album, Serenade, a year later on the Autumn Equinox in 2008. WSK have played at the Out Of The Ordinary Festival for the last 2 years, headlining the Acoustic Stage in 2009.

The Kittens Individually
Charlie Finney (Vocals)
Charlie studied ballet from the ages of 3 to 16. She then studied Performing Arts, specialising in Physical Theatre. She joined the Street Theatre company "Looking Glass" with whom she toured Britain and Europe. She then moved into choreography, working on music videos for Dust FX Productions. From 2006 Charlie has been the Creative Director of "Brighton Frocks", Brighton's hottest fashion show. Musically, Charlie trained in jazz and contemporary styles with Royal Academy vocal coach, Chip Taylor. After a brief stint on bass guitar with Johnny Quality, Charlie recorded a 3 track demo of jazz standards which led to her joining Buffalo Bills' Blues Revue on vocals. Charlie's 2 main musical influences are Aretha Franklin & The Pixies.
Neil Hiller (Acoustic, Electric & Bass Guitars)
Neil is an accomplished Modern Jive performer and teacher. He and Charlie run The Jive Lounge, a dance company based in Brighton. As The Jive Lounge they have performed at the Glastonbury and Los Vagueness festivals. Neil runs Music Therapy sessions for people with learning difficulties using guitar, voice and percussion. Over the last 20 years Neil has played guitar and bass in a variety of bands with styles ranging from Delta Blues to UK Hardcore Thrash Metal! Neil Joined Buffalo Bill's Blues Revue in Summer 2006 and brought Charlie into that band shortly after. Neil's 2 main musical influences are Jaco Pastorius & AC/DC.
Russell Baillie (Vocals & Acoustic Guitar)
Russell has been singing and performing from an early age. In the late 1970's he played rhythm guitar with punk outfit Suburban Relapse. In 1980 he became a founder member of Scottish mystic acoustic-rock outfit The Open Conspiracy, an ongoing musical collective who have a triple album entitled The Book Of Time available later this year (2010). Russell moved to London in 1983, spending several years as a solo performer before returning to Scotland in the mid-1990's to record & release the album "Pride Games" with The Secret. In 1995 he joined London-based blues outfit Lonesome Whistle, which led to the role of lead vocalist (1996-2004) with ex-Fleetwood Mac bassist Bob Brunning's acclaimed Deluxe Blues Band - releasing 3 and appearing on 4 other albums. Co-founded good-time, old-style R'n'B outfit Doctors Orders in 2004. Was the last of the Kittens to join Buffalo Bill's Blues Revue in December 2006. Russell's 2 main musical influences are The Beatles & John Martyn.
