Wil Kondrich’s passion for blue collar rock & roll started at six-months old, when he attended a Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers outdoor show, secured to his dad’s back in a baby carrier.
After years of elementary school piano lessons and recitals, Wil picked up a guitar in eighth grade and never looked back. In the summer of 2008 he began studying guitar in earnest with critically acclaimed Pittsburgh musician Bill Toms and in the Spring of 2010 he and three friends, from Central Catholic High School, formed Hot Metal Bridge, a hard-rocking band covering everyone from ACDC to Bruce Springsteen.
Winning a number of local Battle-of-the-Band contests with their popular original songs, Hot Metal Bridge was soon playing a variety of Pittsburgh clubs including The Smiling Moose, The Rex Theater, Mr. Small’s, and Frankie’s as well as many local church and summer festivals. In November of 2013, Hot Metal Bridge reunited for a sold out headline show at Pittsburgh’s Hard Rock Café.
Guided and encouraged by his teacher and friend, Bill Toms, Wil began writing his own music and honing his vocal and guitar skills through guest performances with legendary Pittburgh musicians and bands like Bill Toms & Hard Rain; Tom Breiding & American Son; and Patrick Maloney & The Pump Fakes. He is often a featured guest with Toms and Breiding during Singer-Songwriter Saturdays at The Leaf & Bean in Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District; headlines semi-annual shows at one of Pittsburgh’s favorite Irish watering holes, The Pub in the Park; and in the Fall of 2013, he opened for Bill Toms & Hard Rain at Pittsburgh’s premier listening room, Club Café.
Wil’s debut EP entitled Faded Dreams was produced and recorded by the masterful Tom Breiding at his AmeriSon Studio during the summer of 2012. Faded Dreams showcases four of Wil’s original songs and a cover of Warren Zevon’s classic, “My Ride’s Here.” Faded Dreams features guest performances by Wil’s longtime mentors, collaborators, and friends, Bill Toms, Tom Breiding, Phil Brontz, Dan Navarro & Jack Breiding.
When he is not writing music or performing live, Wil is a sophomore at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio where he is studying music technology.
