Born and raised in Ada, OK and now residing in Edmond, OK, I've been playing the piano for as long as I can remember. I never had the patience to learn to read music well, so I started playing songs by ear. Not being able to read music also led to my interest in writing my own songs. I figured, if I could play by ear I might be able to create moderately decent music myself. This developed into a full on passion as I began to realize how therapeutic my creating music was. Music is the only language we all speak, and it can effect and bring together people of completely diverse backgrounds. My music speaks of the Gospel of Christ's gift of salvation and God's unchanging unshakable love for mankind. What better is there to sing and play about?
I call my music a.t.o.n.e music b/c when it was just for me it was my way of repenting for my transgressions and acknowledging God's saving grace. The acronym stands for "attempting to open new ears" which is what I hope this music can be used to do. It does not fit neatly into contemporary Christian or Gospel genre distinctions in the hope that it will reach those who wouldn't normally listen to typical sounds of those genres. My self-taught instrumentation hopefully leaves me with a naivety that allows me to go somewhere a better trained musician might not have. There are a ton of influences in the music that once mixed together with bassy hip-hop beats, the songs rarely sound like any of the artists that influenced them. What you end up with is something that I think is both familiar yet unique.
Hopefully you will enjoy this music, and it can impact your life the way it impacts mine to make it. Be Blessed!!
