Guitarist-composer William Kentner Anderson is a Pennsylvania-German composer. That is to say, he is Pennsylvanian with German ancestry. Anderson is a guitar vituoso who plays the entire plucked-string repertoire, including works for theorbo, tenor banjo, mandolin, tiple, as well as classical guitar, playing the works of both established and cutting-edge composers.
Anderson has appeared on the Leonard Lopate Show, and on NPR's All Things Considered, where he discussed the off-Broadway show, *Sounding Beckett*, which ran in September of 2012.
He founded the Cygnus Ensemble in 1985. He has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Opera Chamber Players (under the legendary James Levine), Da Capo Chamber Players, and for 10 years with the Theater Chamber Players of Washington, D.C.
Anderson tours the world, appearing in both guitar festivals and new music festivals. Most recently he performed at the Brno Guitar Festival.
Anderson began performing chamber music at the Tanglewood Festival in 1989. He teaches guitar at Sarah Lawrence College and Queens College.
