Windows to Sky

Biography

Joseph of Windows to Sky has been writing songs since waaaay before it was cool.

Beginning with a humble cassette tape of mostly a cappella original songs at age 16, Joseph has always composed, arranged, and produced his own recordings.

Currently he operates a home studio of a billionteen digital tracks, and produces audio pieces for radio and streaming media, live theater and dance pieces, and lastly but not at all leastly, the Windows to Sky band.

The band's ever-evolving membership has performed at parties, clubs, coffeehouses, restaurants, midnight movie screenings, nudist colonies, respected venues such as Molly Malone's, and special events including the The New House Variety Nights, LA Burning Man Decompression, Wig Out! at Bordello, Hollywood's Carnival Noir, Cayamo: A Journey Through Song, and the Labyrinth of Jareth festival. Our songs have been played on public radio and lots of streaming Internet stations and podcasts, and featured in a cooking show ("Dating In") and a feature film ("Strapped").

Creative influences include Simon and Garfunkel, Iron and Wine, They Might Be Giants, Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega, Gogol Bordello, Pink Floyd, Steeleye Span, Violent Femmes, and a mouldering stack of old 78s and reel-to-reel tapes from childhood garage sales.

In the course of Windows to Sky events, Joseph has been known to play 12-string and electric guitar, electric bass, cello, mandolin, piano, miscellaneous percussion, toy glockenspiel, a pair of scissors, a telephone, an antique typewriter, and an electric egg slicer. You will be able to hear him as Rocky Crocodile and Lasso Dog in the upcoming children's cartoon, "Vipo: Adventures of the Flying Dog", and as like 42 distinct characters, at least, on the ongoing Internet radio show, Tales of the Extraordinary.

In muter times, Joseph is a video editor, an art model, a photographer, a writer, a director, a circus usher, a live DJ/VJ/KJ, a website coder, and a silk ribbons aerialist.

Naked As We Came
2011
Our gentle arrangement of the gorgeous song by Iron & Wine. Three-part harmony and flugelhorn compliment the softly picked electric guitar. This is a song about change, and seasons, and love, sex, and death. Quite a lot for a few short gentle words.

Tomorrow's So Yesterday (The Song from 'Strapped')

As recently heard in the independent film "Strapped", an emotionally raw song about taking that next seductive tiny step. Which is actually a giant leap wearing a seductive tiny step costume.
