Biography
Geovanny Xavier Torres was born March 23rd in the beautiful and peaceful city of Cuenca in Ecuador, South America. He comes to the United States as a small boy and is raised in the neighborhood of Washington Heights which is well known for its major population that originate from the Dominican Republic. Xavier is then influenced by this new culture which is happy, warm and starts to love this new rythm to him... Merengue. He then joins a local church choir where he learns to sing, play piano, play bass and guitar. After showing his skills, he is then pulled by various local music directors for local bands and at the age of 17 starts playing with various known bands in local and out of the state clubs.
After playing with local and as a guest to visiting merengue bands, decides to start writing, composing and arranging his own music, using his own style and with the help of his mentor Dante Rivera, begins this new journey called Bajando Fino, which stands for show up with class, show up with style and mainly show up with fresh rythm.
Under the label Go-Latino Records, Xavier launches his first merengue production named 'Chequea el Swing!' which means check out the swing! and it has quickly caught on popularity in South America, Central America and quickly picking up in in major cities of the United States, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Europe.
Songs like 'Si la ven llorando', 'Dame un chin chin', 'La quiero ver mover', 'Ella quiere que le den', 'Salvaje', 'Ensename a olvidarte' are currently gaining air time in major and internet radio stations.
Xavier y Bajando Fino's album, promises to make people stand up and move, with music that can be played at clubs, homes, cars, it is simply a production that has been awaited by merengue lovers all over the world.
