Year 5000

Biography

Unhindered by genera, Year 5000 (Y5k) has recorded lullabies, punk rock anthems, experimental soundscapes and Reggae dance tunes since 1995, most with a hint at the groups Folk-Noir roots.
Year 5000 is Oregon native Mat Probasco assisted by various like-minded artists, including members of The Standard, HurtBird, Loch Lomond, Iretsu, Delorean and others. Recording in the Pacific NorthWest, the Caribbean, and most recently Hong Kong, Year 5000 seamlessly blends dreamscape lyrics with an ever-evolving sound. Love ballads like "Sing the Song" from the 2007 album The SpaceDragon sit comfortably in the shuffle queue with post-Reggae war protest songs like "Tribal War (Is Over)."
Look for more Y5k tunes soon.

Dreamboat
2006
More wisdom, less sanity. We broke into an empty apartment (wedged the window) and recorded these acoustic numbers with the natural hardwood floor reverb. Add some organ and strings and you\'ve got a heck of a record.
