Yolanda R. performs R&B/Soul, Pop, Jazz and Gospel. Singing since 12, she has graced recordings, performances and choral groups with her soulful Soprano. A native New Yorker, Yolanda trained classically at the famous LaGuardia High School of Music & the Arts (featured in the movie "Fame"), then won a vocal scholarship to Harlem School for the Arts. Since then she has performed at various venues in NYC, NJ and internationally via the World Wide Web.
“Why” was her first original song released in Dec. 2011. Years ago, after ending a short term relationship on a sour note, she wrote the tune. She composed* the melody, lyrics and vocal arrangement and Phillip Carroll produced the song. The originality and authenticity of “Why” resulted in Yolanda R. being selected as the Arzuk.com "Artist of the Week" for April 22-28, 2013.
The top selling original single "Bring Ur Lovin' Home" has been played on countless radio stations all over the world. "Bring Ur Lovin' Home" recently won the Akademia Award for Best R&B/Soul song in April 2013.
In July 2012 she released her debut CD/EP entitled “Yolanda’s Voice” which is a compilation of originals, standards and some creatively reworked covers. Her mini EP "A Few of My Thoughts..." (all original tunes) was released in November 2012. The single "Evil Music Box", which is an electronica tune showing another musical side of the artist, was released in March 2013.
Her fluid and expressive vocals have been also requested by other artists who have featured her on their tracks. In Dec. 2010 she was the featured vocalist on Harmonik's "Nervana Remix” electronica single. In November 2012 she collaborated with the artist Aka: man, performing a cover of "Life's What You Make It". In March 2013 she did a duet with Pop singer Ywan on his song "No Air". A soon to be released tune with the electronica producer Synch Dub is due later this year. New collaborations with an up-and-coming producer are in the works for summer 2013.
