Zach Ashton is a self-taught singer-songwriter who uses the experiences of life and emotion as his themes for composition. Often described as the perfect blend between Jason Mraz and Ryan Adams, Ashton’s songs hit on both melodic and lyrical depth. He has performed alongside Grammy winning artists such as Dionne Warwick and Terrence Trent D’arby and has had the opportunity to perform live for audiences exceeding 20,000. In 2008, his song Sugar & Spice became a TOP40 hit in Italy. He was invited to perform at the Concerto de Natale in the Teatro de Verona the same year. The theatre was once home to performances by Mozart.
Zach Ashton has released three albums of original works in the past five years. The first, Mellow Dia (2003) was recorded/produced entirely in Brazil. The song Ocean went to #2 on the Radio Atlantida charts and was featured in various film and TV placements. The album would later be released in Japan through Ward/Argus Records. The album consists of jazzy world rhythms with hints of reggae and pop.
In his second release Sweet Nothings (2005), Ashton stripped away much of the instrumentation of his previous record and delivered a soulful mix of acoustic pop ballads. Enlisting Alan Sanderson (Rolling Stones, Elton John, Ryan Adams) as the primary engineer and creative director for the project. The end result was nothing less than magic. The album features a haunting version of New Order’s Love Vigilantes.
Zach Ashton recently finished his third album entitled Just Like Beautiful, which is currently being released worldwide through various major and independent labels. The single Sugar & Spice was a TOP40 hit in Italy for much of 2008 and the second single Losing was featured on the Brazilian novella Sete Pecados.
Zach Ashton is currently in pre-production for his next album Dirty Sophistication due for release in 2010. He lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
