Zinovy Shersher is an American singer-songwriter, fine artist and occasional actor.
Shersher's songs, such as "All about Love", "Remember Me", "Merry Christmas" have been recorded by a vast array of performers from many different musical genres.
Two of his CD albums: "Color the World with Music", recorded and co-produced with The Pacific Pops Orchestra in 2004, and The Original movie sound track "Lucky Numbers", released in 2008 were applied for Grammy.
Zinovy Shersher was inducted into the Grammy Academy as a Voting Member in 2008.
Zinovy Shersher was born in the former Soviet Union and immigrated to the United States in 1980. At the age of 7 his mother enrolled him to the music school in the City of Kursk, where he grew up. For 7 years he studied violin, piano and harmony. After he graduated from the Kursk Pedagogical Institute (today it's a University) with a masters in Arts and Graphics, he went to the Musical College, where he studied harmony and quire conducting.
During the past 3 decades in America, Zinovy Shersher wrote and produced 7 song albums. In 2003 he released his first American Christmas record "MERRY CHRISTMAS, I WROTE THIS SONG FOR YOU", a heartwarming mix of 5 original songs and instrumentals and 5 licensed Christmas Carols. As Richard Banks from www.christmasreviews.com wrote of this album, "I particularly liked how Mr. Shersher interspersed his own (quite original and compelling) compositions among well-known modern pop Christmas tunes… This CD is of interest to lovers of original Christmas songs and fans of Burt Bacharach's early compositions."
In 2005 Shersher co-produced a joint album with Conductor and Arranger Shelly Cohen (former assistant director of NBC’s Tonight Show orchestra) and conductor of his “Pacific "Pops" orchestra. Their album "Color the world with music" features exciting arrangements of time honored standards and new songs and compositions by Maestro Zinovy Shersher. The album was applied for a Grammy. "Working with Zinovy has been a unique and most gratifying experience" said Mr. Cohen. Zinovy is a consummate composer and performer and has much to offer. We have found a kinship in our desire to bring quality entertainment to our audience."
Zinovy also wrote and produced 4 song albums in Russian: "STRING", "DREAM", "BROKEN STRING" and “PORTRAIT”.
Shersher participated in music videos, animated features and movie scores including "The Hunt for Red October” with Sean Connery and "Lucky Numbers". On February 2003 Shersher recorded his 2 originals with 118 musicians Mosfilm orchestra in Moscow and wrote number of songs for famous Russian singers. In 2008 he wrote a Original movie sound track and a cover song for a movie "Lucky Numbers".
Today you can find Zinovy writing and producing new songs, scores for various feature and animated films, some for Hollywood's “Films by Jove” co. He is also helping mentor and produce music for new talent, such as Los Angeles based rock/reggae group Rough Draft and the sensational new R&B singer Karin Lapidot.
Shersher's musical and artistic talents are harmonized in paintings, which combine his emotion and culture into passionate melodic images, which you can find in various galleries and museums throughout the world, with several of his masterpieces available in limited edition serigraphs and lithographs.
