db9d9 is an industrial rock band that hails from San Diego, California. Since it's inception in 1996, Eric Recourt has been the driving force behind this darkwave act best known for it's seductively catchy brand of psycho-sexual electro/punk mayhem and downright dangerous live performances.
October 1999, the award winning debut album "db9d9" was released to critical acclaim. db9d9 performed extensively during this period, playing the Whisky in Los Angeles and support slots for both Metallica and Motley Crue on the strength of this album. Recourt began networking to get db9d9 music into movies and television and his ambition paid off when several projects used music from the album "db9d9". The original line up was a 3 piece and included Susan Smith on drums and Ward Slojkowski on bass. Recourt handled guitars, synths and lead vocals. Both Joe (Bishop) Ninoski and Morgan McCreary would eventually perform guitar duties for db9d9 so Eric could focus more on his live vocals.
After licensing music from the first db9d9 album, Recourt invested in upgrades and locked himself away to begin work on a new album. He wanted to create an album that was "pure" and "in the moment". Motivated by Zen Buddhism, Recourt claims to have let the songs on "Something to Cry About" evolve naturally without trying to push them in any specific direction, which may have something to do with the album's unique industrial sound. The cover art was created by digital artist, Tsubasa. Something to Cry About" was finally released in October 2003. Eric's partner and db9d9 co-founder, Ward Slojkowski, left the band in 2004 just before the band were to begin touring for "Something to Cry About.
db9d9 has released several well recieved singles recently and it's confirmed that a third album is in the pipeline although details have not been revealed.
