Hailing from the DC Metro area, and bearing a sound reminiscent of Atlantic Starr, Incognito, and Brand New Heavies, guiltypleasures captivates audiences with a mix of soulful, dynamic vocals and deep, laid-back grooves.
Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Prince Georges County, MD, songwriter, producer and bassist Rick White was exposed to and influenced by “Quiet Storm” music (a late-night radio format, featuring soulful slow jams, pioneered in the mid-1970s by the late Melvin Lindsey at WHUR-FM, in Washington, D.C.) at a very early age. It was during this time that his love for songwriting emerged. His desire to write, arrange, and produce the types of songs he grew up listening to led to the creation of his production company, “Ricreations” and the project known as guiltypleasures.
Mycah Chevalier’s sultry voice is well known on the Baltimore jazz scene. She has shared the ...stage with legendary artists such as The Whispers, Patti Labelle, and Luther Vandross and her singles "Back and Forth" and "Forgiveness" are currently receiving airplay in both the U.S. and abroad.
Kal El has lent his smooth vocal talents to artists such as Ledisi, Maysa, Lalah Hathaway, Rahsaan Patterson and Raheem DeVaughn. He is also the lead male vocalist for the popular Grown and Sexy go-go band, "Faycez U Know".
Drummer Vinton Jones is on The A-List of go-to drummers in the DC Metro Area. He has most recently performed with The Temptations and has handled drum duties for Marcus Johnson, Jean Carne, Michael Henderson, Bobbi Humphrey, gospel great Walter Hawkins and others.
