Biography

ing creates timeless original music across many borders, from Americana to 80s Britrock to vintage 60s lysergic garage psychedelia. From intimate coffeehouses to top clubs and festival stages, ing dances gleefully around and in the rock and pop music communities. With Dial, ing opens yet another chapter in the group's career delivering its first rock musical -- or an "operock," if you will -- to the world.

ing was born as a duo in December 1995 with Mark Smotroff and Sean Mylett who remain the core of the group to this day. In the summer of '98, ing transformed into a four-piece rock ensemble and soon released, to strong reviews, their EP Liberty in 1999. Liberty showcased ing's rock and power pop sensibilities while capturing the group's dynamic live energy. Billboard called it "stellar" and "fresh and original". This reputation is underscored by the band being voted "Best Local Rock Band" in the "Best of the Bay" Reader's Polls for the San Francisco Bay Guardian (2002), SF Weekly (2003) and San Francisco Magazine (2003). And the band's last CD Stagger & Belligerence on Heyday Records received strong reviews:

"... brilliant.-- proving the relevance and resilience of good ol' rock and roll."
San Francisco Bay Guardian January 21, 2004
