Biography

'She’s been called a female Beck, which is a little lazy, but you can understand the reasoning' - Rob F, Leicester Bangs UK

Named after the famous pirate radio station where her father worked in the 1960's, radio caroline south is the musical vehicle of Thalia Kemp, former lead vocalist and bass player of underground Australian cult band the Ziggerants, whose brief career included supports with They Might Be Giants, the Buzzcocks and the Sugarcubes.

Shifting focus from live to studio, Thalia demonstrates accomplishment as a songwriter and musician, supplementing her vocals, guitar and bass playing with samples and loops. Joined by accomplished Jazz trumpeter Richard 'Chuck' Probert on the track Funky Damon - they met the night before the session in a bar in Fitzroy, Melbourne's indie music hub - radio caroline south draws inspiration from a diverse set of influences to create a sound which borrows from Tex-Mex, surf guitar, big beat and shoegaze pop.
