Biography

THE NIGHT WATCHMEN
the Night Watchmen were a San Francisco-based band and one of the first to embrace a musical and stage style influenced by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Tom Waits & Tindersticks that later became Steam Punk.

Songwriter, pianist and band leader Gentry Bronson and bassist Dr. John Hudy formed the band the Night Watchmen in 2001 and their debut EP Illumination was released in November 2001 with drums played by Ryan Low. It included the NCSA award winning song Don't Go Home Tonight.

The dark, cabaret-styled full length record Lost In California followed in April 2003 establishing the band with a small cult of international fans. The album was featured widely by MP3.com and the single When I Dream of You reached the top #20 in the alternative charts on Garageband.com. Musicians on Lost In California included Corey Losee on drums and Jeff Hobbs on horns and violins along with Bronson and Hudy.

In March 2004, Night Watchmen John Hudy committed suicide, and Gentry reinvented the band, releasing the jazz-infused Rain Come Down in 2005 showcasing his heart-on-your-sleeve songwriting. Gentry added drummer Alex Aspinall and Hudy was replaced by Adam Harrison T. This album featured the passionately wrenching song Empty Rooms.

Gentry disbanded the Night Watchmen in 2006 and has gone on to have a successful solo career. He continues to perform and record with drummer and friend Alex Aspinall.
