Hogan Brown (guitarist, formerly of Autumn Era) and Randy Presleigh (Bassist, formerly of Red With Envy) were playing together in an extra room in Hogan’s house for nearly a year when they spotted a Craigslist add from drummer Chris Monlux (formerly of Shrew). Chris began practicing with them on a regular basis. They became interested in adding a vocalist to the mix, and Greg Olson, a co-worker of Chris’ laid some vocals over an unfinished song they had recorded. Greg soon began practicing with them, and they started writing new material together.
It wasn’t long before the four of them were searching for a fifth member to add some depth to the music, and Matt Bowhall fit the bill perfectly, using his guitar in mysterious ways to fill out the sound.
Influenced by everything from led zeppelin, appleseed cast, king crimson, sevendust, death cab for cutie, and the big joe polka show, the five-piece band had outgrown the extra room in Hogan’s house.
They found a permanent practice space, and “the remainder” was born.
