REVIEWS OF 'PEOPLE WITH PURPOSE' & WIZARDS OF TWIDDLY

''The best band ever to come out Liverpool''
Steve Davis, BBC6 Music, July 2011

''With People With Purpose the Wizards Of Twiddly have created a richly detailed living thing of an album, something that sounds absolutely honest and engaging with their real world."
- the organ (May 10, 2011)

'Their new album 'People with Purpose' is a manic jaunt through blaring horns, enigmatic vocals and frenzied bursts of guitar, all tied together with the deepest rhythmic grooves you could hope for....Mad, bad and dangerously addictive'
- Steven Reid, seaoftranquility.org (Mar 11, 2011)

'A mish mash of musical madness, combining brassy prog, sonic psych and jazzy twiddling..' "
- Jumbo Records, Leeds (Feb 03, 2011)

'People with Purpose'' is my album of the year. The Twids have returned with an album every bit as strong as "Independent Legs" and "Man Made Self" - and sounding even better. The recording and production work is flawless. They have never sounded so good...”
— Nick Loebner, progressiveears.com 21st Century Progressive Rock

' The new Wizards of Twiddly album is without a doubt The Greatest Album ever made !! Get it... Buy IT... Download It... Spread it about.... The World Deserves to hear this!!! '
- Phil Hartley, Anti Pop Records (Dec 20, 2010)

A LITTLE HISTORY
Formed in Liverpool 1988 the Wizards of Twiddly stuck out like a sore thumb ! Creating wildly ambitious music from a vast and colourful palette with large chunks of humour and theatricality. On their own Fracture for Pleasure © label they produced two idiosyncratic albums 'independent legs' (1992) and 'man made self' (1994). Largely ignored by the mainstream music press ('Scouse Gets' NME 1993) they managed to attract a collection of committed supporters including Cardiacs' Tim Smith, Radio One's Mark Radcliffe and the late, great Vivian Stanshall.

In 1994 the Wizards of Twiddly embarked on a year long collaboration with the very legendary Kevin Ayers. In 2000 Market Square records released the live 'Turn the Lights Down - Live in London 1995' with the band accompanying Kevin on some of his greatest tunes. Wizards of Twiddly also collaborated with Kaboodle Theatre Co (Threepenny Story1991/2) Liverpool scrap musicologists Urban Strawberry Lunch and comedian Terry Titter. In 1993 the band won the best band at the first Liverpool Echo Arts Awards.

After a seven year hiatus the band reformed in December 2004 after a triumphant gig at Liverpool's Zanzibar Club. In 2007 the band released the first in 'the upendium' series (vol three !) and the mini live album'.'live at the zanzibar'
