I've been writing music, recording and performing in Southern California my whole life. My just released 10 song CD, "Grateful" is a year-and-a-half in the making. In it, I write about 10 people, places and things that I am grateful of so the project was very meaningful to me. The sound and the message is a positive one and one way I accomplished that I beleive is through my 12 string "Blue-Burst" Rickenbacker guitar that is featured throught the compositions. I love that chiming lush guitar sound that was popularized by one of my favorite bands of all time -- The Byrds and the maestro of their sound -- Roger McGuinn. As with my last CD, I've also intigrated the digital guitar delay sound created so brilliantly by The Edge of U2. My hope was that the combination would create a unique blending of the 60's with contemporary alternative rock. The vocals once again are filled with two and three part harmonies. I have a fabulous guitar solo on one of the tracks performed by my engineer and producer -- Richard Bredice who again mixed the songs. The legendary Frank Cotinola did the drums again and of course Pat Woodland mastered the project with perfection. I am truly GRATEFUL to these unbelievably talented pros.
Thanks for reviewing this album! You should see it show up on the album page in a few days.
Often the desire to emulate the 60s classics leads to entertaining, but pretty shallow albums but not in this case. Drifting down the motorway after midnight from playing a gig I flicked through a couple of things i'd downloaded and got to this. It's a very classy album going far beyond Byrds/U2 influences mentioned in review. i'm checking out what else he's done. Buy it. Read more...
Have only listened to the first seven songs....I definitely became intrigued with the third track. Some influences evident in the music...such as a kind of Genesis,U2,Pink Floyd thing going with the chords and harmonies. I LOVE the chromatic phrases...full, rich and hopeful.I will listen more acutely all this week on the way to work, thank you. Good tunes! Read more...
