Sarah Swanson’s newest release THIS SIDE OF MADNESS on Feline Zoo Music blends heart-wrenching blues, groove rock, and thoughtful moody ballads which deliver an emotional punch. Sarah’s songwriting style is raw and haunting with introspective lyrics and powerful pure vocals. The well-acclaimed band led by rock guitarist Patrick Thomas, a creative force who lends some songwriting masterpieces on this recording, is very present on this project with a strong backing band including Rod Capps on bass and Chuck Mauk on drums. Sarah plays piano on several of the songs with an added demo version of the heartbreaking song FOREVERMORE as the last track on the CD. Recorded in the renowned studio Big Sky Recording, highly regarded engineer and co-producer Geoff Michael captured a high quality production without masking the album in technical trickery.
The mid-tempo song TELL ME YOU LOVE ME gained far reaching national airplay and was played daily on both commercial and independent radio stations including WFIV out of Knoxville for months. In a surprising move, Women of Substance Radio picked up the blues-rock song YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME clocking in at over seven minutes where it became a TOP TEN SONG for two months in a row and ranked #37 on their TOP 50 SONGS 2012. Several other songs off of THIS SIDE OF MADNESS including the rocking title track also gained radio exposure. The album made it onto the Americana Music Association charts as well as the national Roots Music Report Americana charts.
Sarah's band plays most of THIS SIDE OF MADNESS as well as Sarah Swanson's debut CD DARK SUNSHINE (also available on CD BABY) during their high energy live shows. The current touring band includes Patrick Thomas (guitar), Jim Gillette (guitar), Dave Wolff (bass), Paul Koch (drums), and Jennifer Buehrer (backing vocals/percussion).
