Album Notes

When I was little, I started playing by ear on an old upright piano in our basement. My parents loved music and singing - records and radio were always playing in our house! Fortunately, they gave me the opportunity to study classical piano all through school. Every year of study opened up more beautiful pieces to learn.

During college, my love of songwriting developed and I met Brad, a fellow songwriter, who I later married. We composed and performed for many years and recorded two projects of original music together. At the same time, I grew to love improvising on the piano. My classical training provided the springboard for these original piano solos. The music came from my heart, from my life lessons rather than from childhood piano lessons! This ultimately led to the creation and recording of two piano solo CD's: “Water Song” and then “Colors Dance.”

I used to play for people in our living room and I decided it would be great to share that feeling of a private concert with a larger audience. “Water Song: Piano Solos”, was recorded in 1997 without any special effects, boasting a very uniquely pure and clean sound.

The melodies are improvisations, three of which were from songs Brad had written, “Circumstances,” “Remember the Day,” and “Through the Motions.” Some pieces were totally improvised like “Soaring,” which only required a single take to record. A fragment of each of the other 11 tracks is found on the first track of the CD, “Overture.”

“Water Song: Piano Solos” was produced and mixed by Gary Tash of Pinewood Studios/Underscore, Inc. and mastered by Larry Devivo of Silvertone Mastering.

The artwork on the cover of "Water Song" is an original watercolor I painted entitled “Lily Pad I” which was featured in Flowers In Watercolor published by Rockport Publishers in 1996. In addition to being a musician, I am also a professional artist - you can see more of my work at my website:
