L.E. STOKES is much more than a song writer. On her debut release, GOOD INTENTIONS, it is her arresting voice that captures you, and candid, poignant lyrics that hold you long after the end of each song.
L.E.’s music offers an honest look at what it is to be someone struggling to find authenticity in an imperfect world. On Good Intentions, L.E. explores the confusion and self-doubt that fills the life of a 20-something, while celebrating the absurdity and order of life. L.E. asks some difficult questions of her self promptly followed by lyrics gently couched in the humor that she finds in the lack of answers. ”There’s something so fabulous about changing my mind. Though your charm is convincing, this isn’t one of those times.”
After growing up in Reno and Dallas, L.E. studied Classical music at Pepperdine University in California. She translated that classical training into a pursuit of songwriting, choosing to tell her own stories, rather than offering an expression of others’ work.
Her songs have been described as “Feel good music for the borderline lonely,” and “A compelling venture through the optimistic doubt and bold confidence that we all go through as we struggle to create greatness.” Listen to this CD and you’ll quickly see that L.E. What a compelling voice!
author: Mike"Good Intentions" is a wonderful showcase for one of the sweetest voices in music today. I listened to the album in my car and found the songs echoing sweetly in my memory throughout my workday. The songs weave a tapestry of the the sometimes fickle emotions that accompany twenty-something life. The title track is a compelling venture through the optimistic doubt and bold confidence that we all go through as we struggle to create greatness. L.E. also gives us a taste of the emotions of love and loss with lyrics that are worthy of poetry. Check out this album. I know you will love it.
Smooth, sweet and moving
author: Mike - PDXI stumbled onto this CD after hearing about it from a friend. The sound is smooth and sweet and the lyrics are moving. It should have been titled "Great Intentions" not "Good Intentions." The music will be enjoyed by anyone from teens to over-the-hill baby boomers like me. It will sneak up on you, and grab you. author: gailget yourself into an armchair with a large glass of australian merlot, some candles and some cushions and enjoy this cd. it's poetry will captivate and l.e.'s voice will intrigue and inspire you.... then again, blast it out of your car stereo on a hot day with all the windows down. laugh with its playful moments and grin at its poignant observations... it's gorgeous. buy it.
