This disc, in spite of some upbeat Shania Twain-influenced singing and song arrangements, conveys a surprising amount of pain. It’s difficult to review such a deeply personal work, but music lovers who want a slice of real life in their listening experience will be interested in Cookie Cutter Girl. This is not folk music, but the rawness of the lyrics certainly puts this CD in the same neighborhood as the early folk artists dedicated to capturing "what’s real."
