An exerpt from the Artist's bio:
Arvel spent eleven years learning classical violin. After high school, he attended Arizona State University on a music scholarship later transferring to the University of Illinois - Champaign / Urbana to study under the great violin master, Paul Rolland.
"That was the most defining time of my musical career. Paul taught me so much about performing; how to relax on stage in order to always give my best performance. I credit Paul with taking me apart and putting me back together again."
Soon after, Arvel began composing, improvising, and learning to play a variety of styles from bluegrass to Celtic and folk to country and old-time music. His mixed- blood heritage of Southern Paiute and Scot is now the inspiration for most of his music. Arvel has found a way to incorporate many facets of that ancestry into his signature musical style and stories. His music has been described as part "Braveheart" and part "Last of the Mohicans", which explains why his music inspires fans to feel their own connection to their American Indian and Celtic heritages.
For eleven years Arvel toured with Glen Campbell, Clay Walker, Louise Mandrell, Tom T. Hall, Ray Price, Loretta Lynn and others. Now as a recording artist, he tours internationally performing his own music as a soloist or with his group, "Many Tribes, One Fire". Since 2001 he has released fourteen CDs and one DVD, seven of which have been nominated or won awards for a number of categories in the Native American Music Awards, Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, New Age Reporter and Indian Summer Music Awards.
Arvel's music is truly a fusion of styles - from classical to Celtic and bluegrass to jazz all which all blend together to create his very unique World music sound. The more recent infusion of contemporary Native American has come about from his tapping into his Southern Paiute heritage. Each performance is a celebration of his Scottish and Southern Paiute ancestries, wihch he uses to create a true multi-cultural experience for every audience.
