Wayne Warner: If Life Was a Prayer (2012)

“If Life Was A Prayer” (Wayne Warner) Warner Pub. Co. BMI For me, a lot of songs seem to fall out of the sky when I’m in the state of mind to catch them. The words seem to flow from the pen itself. They can be written in as little as five minutes – This – was not one of those. The title demanded that song have substance, something to say, something that makes you think but with a simple melody and hopefully a little thing called a “hook”. As someone a few years clean and sober, my favorite line in the song is “Bottles and smoke rise where the Devil lies. He cuts ya down deep, so you keep your lows high.” I’ve been there, got the T-Shirt. Don’t even try it on – it looks good on no one.
