    Stephanie Trick
    Hear That Rhythm!
A swinging combination of ragtime and stride from the 30s and 40s - guaranteed to make you dance.
Stephanie began taking piano lessons from Diane Ceccarini in St. Louis, Missouri, from the age of five until she graduated from high school thirteen years later. Diane is well-known as the pianist for most Broadway shows that come to the St. Louis area. At the University of Chicago, Stephanie has studied piano with Dr. Svetlana Belsky, who gave her much guidance in the interpretation of baroque, classical, and romantic music. She also studied jazz piano with a jazz pianist in Chicago's Hyde Park area. Stephanie took a leave of absence in 2007-08 to study music more intensively at Principia College, a liberal arts school in Elsah, Illinois. She took piano lessons from Dr. Marie Jureit, as well as organ with Dr. John Near. Since 2006 she has performed at the annual West Coast Ragtime Festival and she was in several concerts in Pacific Grove, California, in 2007. She also had the honor of appearing at the 2008 Stride + Swing Summit, a series of piano concerts in Boswil, Switzerland. Stephanie has recorded several solo CDs. Piano Tricks includes a combination of classical, ragtime, stride, and jazz. Her latest album, Hear That Rhythm!, focuses primarily on classics of the stride piano repertoire, and also features some contemporary ragtime compositions. She wants to be able to share her music with people because she believes that music is healing. Music is capable of conveying a depth that words cannot, and she loves helping others experience that joy. Stephanie loves stride, ragtime, jazz, and classical genres and believes that the different styles are mutually beneficial — the technique she learns for classical music makes her stride playing more accurate, and the liveliness and spontaneity that characterize ragtime and stride gives her concert playing a unique flavor. She hopes to continue to develop her ability to perform works from all these traditions.
