    Bekah Williams
    Bekah Williams
standards & smoldering blues by this phenomenal female vocalist & group
BEKAH WILLIAMS Bekah has been singing in front of large audiences since early childhood. The daughter of a Pentecostal minister, Williams learned early on that singing was to her family as common as household chores for other children. At age 16 she was already singing in the recording studio for commercial jingles. Her live performance schedule over the years has consisted of several different groups. She fronted the band ROUGH & READY covering originals and obscure covers from 60\'s & 70\'s artists such as Alexis Korner, Humble Pie, Maggie Bell, Jeff Beck Group, and Grand Funk Railroad. Next she worked with The Snakehandlers. The name of the band was a tongue and cheek poke at her Pentecostal background. Featuring hard hitting blues, the Snakehandlers opened the Greater Cincinnati Blues Fest in 1998. Shortly after she joined forces with local/international keyboard wiz Ricky Nye. Performing classic blues and jazz, Bekah and Ricky have been performing locally for almost 10 years. Bekah\'s gospel roots are apparent with this more subdued style of music, and Nye shows a different side of his keyboarding not evident in any of his other works over the past twenty years both locally or internationally. It was Bekah\'s decision for her first solo release to be all covers of some of her favorite music. An American Songbook, of sorts. The album is produced by Ricky and Bekah and is supported by Ricky\'s hub band The Swingin\' Mudbugs, (Now called Ricky Inc). Special guest Sonny Moorman (Atlas Recording artist and long time friend) performs on some of the more Chicago style blues songs. The album was recorded at Erwin Musper\'s new studio Baboo Room Studios. Erwin\'s reputation is well known as he has worked with quite a number of huge name entertainers.
