    The Lyrique Quintette
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue
A variety of works for woodwind quintet from different countries. This recording features the world-premiere of Dvorak's Quartet in Eb, Op. 51 ("Slavonic"), transcribed for woodwind quintet by Mark Popkin
THE LYRIQUE QUINTET featuring Ronda Mains, flute Theresa Delaplain, oboe Robert Umiker, clarinet Richard Ramey, bassoon Timothy Thompson, horn with Lia Uribe, bassoon and Mary Scott Goode, piano ____ Electric . . .Sparkling . . . Adventurous . . .Enlightening The Lyrique Quintette performs with style and grace ____ "Performing in the acoustically crisp parish hall at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the ensemble.....displayed impressive cohesion in every movement of every piece. Not a single entrance dragged; not a single passage faltered. But the group went beyond mere technical smoothness. They played with wit and style." --Bill Jones, Arkansas Democratic-Gazette ____ The Lyrique Quintette, one of the pre-eminent woodwind chamber groups in the U.S., is ensemble-in-residence at the University of Arkansas, where all five are members part of the music faculty. A versatile troupe, the ensemble has been invited to perform throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The members perform chamber music as chamber music should be heard--in an intimate, personal, and comfortable setting--bringing the performers and audience together as partners in the creation of an art form. The quintet's wide range of repertoire and dazzling performances make it a favorite of audiences of all ages. Repertoire spans many musical eras from the richness of the 16th-century Renaissance, to the boldness of 19th-century Romanticism, to works from some of today's most exciting international composers. The ensemble is equally at home with its numerous "pop" arrangements by composers such as Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, and Duke Ellington. The quintet has been on the touring roster of the Mid-America Arts Alliance and tours regularly, appearing at performing arts centers, universities, schools, and other venues. The quintet has performed at several national and international conferences, including International Double Reed Society conferences in Austin, Texas, Frankfurt, Germany, Banff, Alberta, and the Montana-Idaho Clarinet Festival in Missoula, Montana. Most recently, the Lyrique Quintette completed tours to Thailand, performing at major music conservatories in Bangkok and Hat Yai.
