    Mandrel
    The Terrible
A spooky grim dark ambient recording influenced by horror. The Album brings gloomy demonic bizzare somber imagery to mind. Has been used at haunts for terror in films and Halloween. Could give goosebumbs if listened to on stormy nights or in forests.
Mandrel: The Terrible Format: Audio CD Year Released: 2006 Running Time: 62:10 Genre: Grim, Dark Ambient 1) Death (7:21) 2) Emid (9:37) 3) Forests (15:56) 5) Krupula (13:03) 6) Monster (5:17) 7) Patheon (10:52) Biography Mandrel was a project created by a college student back in 2005. The concept behind Mandrel was spawned one dark thunderous night while working on an independent film project for a Philosophy 101 class entitled, A Philosophical Voyage: The Vegetarians Last Note. The film captured many elements of the class including lectures and concepts about life, death, good, evil, illusions, and the concept of what is reality. Drawing from those elements, the artist soon went about creating what is now known as "The Terrible". Six lengthy tracks came to completion during the fall of 2005. The artist actually included this grim, gloomy work in a final portfolio and to his surprise the proffesor, a short, stout individual who looked just like the hobbit bilbo baggins actually enjoyed the work. Once, the semester came to a close, the artist managed to save up some money to create an independent dark basement recording of The Terrible. Shortly after the finalized recording was completed, the album became available to the world thanks to CDBaby. "The Terrible" is no doubt challenging to listen to - lenghty, disturbing, and not for the faint at heart. Its even absurd and dark enough for a halloween scare - in particular the 15+ minute track "Forests" which has been used for haunts. This blood curdling adventure pays homage to horror with its wicked, damned, terrible sounds, yet beneath its wickedness there is some strange beauty underlying the ominus and insane - like the beautifull singing lullaby of a young girl which changes to screams of foreboding terror. The artist himself has described the album as a "twisted dark voyage towards hell." A review from the now defunct Legends Magazine claims "The Terrible" is "musak of the damned". The abum can best be described as a low budget, grim album that is dark, very desolate, somber and spooky . The tracks are generally slow, disturbing, long and at times noisy and disjointed. The artist claims no musical background and the album was created "on the whim" and is strickly based on creativity and the usage of a recorder and electronic sound machines both computer and non computer based. With that being said, his music seems fairly well thought out with a proffesional feel and has been featured in some underground horror films by Dead Guy Cinema, including "Evil Night, NIghtmare, The Tormenter." Overall, through the years "The Terrible" has been a solid success for the artist bringing forth more album sales and download revenue than what was original imagined. This infamous dark ambient underground opus contains six tracks and about 60 minutes worth of music. A few tracks could and have been used to make for an interesting Halloween or Haunt theme to scare the kiddies and makes for an unsettling listen on a damp dark night or when walking in the woods alone for it might give some Goosebumps. Overall, certainly for those who are dark minded and enjoy music that is different from the norm. While not for all the artist appreciates your support and gives his thanks to all who have supported the album over the years. From Legends Magazine - "The Terrible gets darker as you move along... keyboards getting more surreal, voices getting doomier and the elevator to Hell out of which this Muzak of the damned plays takes you lower" Read more at - http://www.legendsmagazine.net/151/mandrel.htm
