Mae Inini Soundtrack
A journey to the forest with sacred chants from the Huni Kuin people coated by unique arrangements. Original soundtrack from the film Mae Inini - The Power of the Earth
The Huni Kuin (True People), also known as Kaxinawa, are natives of the Amazon rainforest, who today inhabit the border areas between Brazil and Peru. With a population of 5500 people who live in harmony with the forest, they still cultivate their ancient traditions and speak their mother tongue, the Hatxa Kuin.
Within the chant of the Huni Kuin, are the mysteries of the white boa, enchantments from the birds, and wisdom from the waters source. They invoke the forces of nature and the divine beings, from the forest and the Astral. You can hear the voice of the Earth, and the histories of the forefathers.
These chants are one precious legacy that these true people of the forest offer to us. Chants for cultivation, planting bananas, hunting, fishing, and chants for building houses, cutting wood, baptism with the black pepper, prayers, the fertility celebration, and the royal hawk ceremony. Some of the most powerful chants are from the Nixi Pae, the sacred brew; such as Pae Txanima, calling the force; Dautibuia, revealing the visions; and Kayatibu, healing songs. These chants guide the spirit on journeys to another side of reality.
The purpose of this CD is to carry these sacred chants to distant villages and shores, with new sounds but the same intention, to bring the energy and magic from the forest, together with its message of peace and harmony.
This work is dedicated to the Huni Kuin people of the TI Kaxinawa do Rio Jordão and TI Praia do Carapanã, and specially to all Txanas, the guardians of this wisdom for thousands of years, who have been singing and teaching us generation after generation.
Thanks to all of you Txais, who helped to make this project possible. You are the people who follow your hearts, believe in your dreams and give your strength to make a better world. May Hutxi Kuxipa enlighten you all.
Viva a Floresta!!!

About Amazon Ensemble:
The Amazon Ensemble was established in order to rescue the musicality of the people from the Amazon Forest, coating it of academic arrangements, and a weft of timbres without antecedents.
It is led by the brazilian musicians
Eduardo Agni and Txai Fernando - both officially innitiated in different indigenous traditions of the Amazonia - and the norwegian instrumentist Sigmund Vatvedt, who for years has been working diligently in the study of musical traditions of the amerindians people.
