The music goes deep. It is a blend of many cultures but has stemmed from roots of hip hop and experimentation. The production consists of many live world instruments. tabla, spanish & middle eastern style guitar, congas, flute, sax, sarod, didgeridoo, turntables, violin, balaphone, electronics...the list goes on. The lyrics are conscious... conversations on life.. and death. Politics, planetary self destruktion, ect. (lyrics are rapped, sung, or sometimes spoken word) Here are many styles; dark, light, mysterious, beautiful... middle eastern, dub/roots/reggae, hip hop, downtempo ect. The music, emotion communicated through sound... please listen with an open mind. For those who don't know, the group started back in '94. Teao and Zygoat made music under the name II Sense (two sense). In '97, they combined with Defiance and Laxman to form Kaotic Souls, one of the only experimental and conscious hip hop acts in San Jose, Ca. The group eventually grew to the supa huge size of about 30 members... all spirtually connected artists. Finally in 2002, they created the name Audiopharmacy Prescriptions. Now, Kaotic Souls is broken down to subgroups, all of which are in the Audiopharmacy family. Audiopharmacy Prescriptions then became the San Francisco indi label which supports and signs unknown kin met along the path of consciousness and community. respect people's planets. audiopharmacy brasil prescription (released Monday, June 7, 2004) Ah yes, It has been a while since a new prescription has dropped out the pharm. We have conjured up plenty of tracks Since "When the Disease Becomes the Antidote" (Kaotic Souls ~ II Sense- '02). This disk unveils some our hardest unreleased tracks. It pre-releases 9 tracks and comes with a dj "Offerings," 35 minute turntable blend (daytime prescribed). The project was put together last minute without mastering (house slippers to the post office rush,) but the tracks and artwork, are definitely ripened to near perfection. The intention of this disk was to plant seeds during Kaira, Zygoat (sef), and Teao's one-month excursion in Brasil, South America. They did. Rio and Salvador got most of the treats, and the rest were shared along the way. The journey was said to be unreal. Only 400 copies of the Brasil Prescription were pressed, so dubs will be up to the fans. Few copies will be released in the states, but www.audiopharmacy.com will keep some copies in stock for whoever asks first. Track listing and Info: 1- humanlies (teao&offerings) This neck-cracking, three-minute instrumental was produced by Teao and his filthy sidekick dj, "Offerings." Teao caught and recorded the news broadcast of the first bombs on Baghdad, declaring Bush's war on Iraq. The painful sounds of the bombing opens the track, and the prescription as well, provoking an awareness of the harsh realities and corrupt system in which many are forced to co-exist in. The instruments Teao puppeteered in the production of "humanlies," consist of cello, didgeridoo, banjo, piano, fretless bass, and violin, not to mention a variety of programmed drum styles ranging from ragga to hip hop. The track is complete with an "offering" of scratches, turntable drum chops, and politically driven samples. 2- unherd (kaotic souls. feat. ras k' dee) For Kaotic, this track is slightly "jiggy," but still forever dark. Zygoat, Ras k' dee, and Laxman, held it down on the mics for this track. "Unherd was the first track Ras k' dee performed live with Kaotic Souls (at San Francisco's Kat Klub) The instruments used in making this dark track were: Acoustic treble bass and fretless bass played by Decado Roe; Melodica, production, keys, fretless bass, sarod played by Teao. Kuts & scrapes by Offerings. 3- imprints (simple fiendz) Once upon a time at the Audiopharmacy, Teao programmed some drums and sampled his fretless bass. As he nodded his head to the dubbish-hip-hop newborn, the studio door peeked open. It was none other than Ras Roms and a subtle smirk. From "dap" to keyboard he floated. After Roms' first few notes, Teao knew he had to plug in his nylon string guitar and hit the record button. "Imprints" was the birth of this daytime instrumental freestyle session. After the session, Teao layed down percussions with Turtle's congas, but eventually Turtle blessed the track himself. That "Simple Fiendz" version is yet to drop. It will be on the Audiopharmacy Prescription vinyl project. 4- vertical horizons (two sense) Next time you are mid-block, downtown, in a large city, surrounded by skyscrapers,... look up. You will witness a vertical horizon. Teao starts the song instrumental with hypnotic solo guitar work, then passes the torch over to Zygoat who shares with us his journey amongst the lands of life and death. Instruments used: t-rung, balaphone, xaphoon, nylon string guitar, fretless bass, spray-paint can. 5- timechange (live i culture) From an optimistic perspective of our living, we can only hope that things will change for the better over time. Live I Culture is our roots/reggae group from Brookly, N.Y. "Time change" reminds us not to feed violence, war, greed, and television. No more planting "sour grapes." Instead, rise and overcome through teaching our youth consciousness. Instruments: (all live) bass, drums, keys, gutar, vocals. 6- dometraveler (werd) A bumpin instrumental track prescribed for freestyles, scratches, thoughts, and riding camel backs through the desert. 7- bailar lluvia (kaotic souls) This is a classic Kaotic track that was written and performed live many time's before ever released. The track begins with Ravyn on the fretless bass, Teao with the flamenco/middle eastern guitar, Laxman on the djembe, and Bioplanet singing beautifully in Spanish. Ras Roms then bridges in to the rain storm with tabla, and last, Zygoat explains the need for mother earth's cleansing. 8- continue (montags dust) Squil and Kenji 451 came with super smooth nice track. They always do. "game over" is the most chill track on the album and is definitely dark and well eerie. Keep an ear out for "when everything burns." It is all instrumental and will be available in August. 9- unkonscious (manufraktured) "Manufracktured" is the collaboration of Ras K' dee (vocals) and Teao (instruments and production). Our government keeps people unconscious while "manufraktured" takes action in proposed awareness. On "unkonscious," Ras K' dee handled the raps and vocal melodies, while teao puppeteered a grip of instruments: spanish guitar, flute, fretless bass, turntables, mandolin, and balaphone. The last third of the song flips up instrumental and Turtle makes a guest appearance on congas. 10- medicinal blend (offerings) Offerings blended this 35 minute mix live on two turntables, then overdubbed some scratches. Most of the tracks are instrumental to leave room for thought or freestyles. It is daytime prescribed, and definatley bumps.
