    The Headliners
    The Headliners
Garage/Rockabilly/Soul two piece from Portland Oregon's Holly Morgan and JT Halmfilst. Recorded by Pooldrop Smith (FooFighters).
"It has been a real epic process creating this record. The HEADLINERS are Holly Morgan and Jeremy Terry and we have a long history together...used to be in love, fell out of love, super angry hate, cathartic flow of music happening, true unfoldings and unprecedented evolution of the heart and the expression, back to love again, simple yet so complex. we picture these songs encrusted with blood, tears, dirt, whiskey and beer, bathed in golden light and washed with the salt of the sea. Jeremy created the art for the packaging after much conversation about the importance of our mutual appreciation and need for symbolic imagery in bringing a visual component to our music. We feel that's represented in regards to the broken, yet living and beautiful components of the art, ancient elements of beauty...aching and dark and raw. okay, back to the music... We met in Portland in 1998, which is about when I first started up with playing music. Jeremy moved to Austin 6 years ago, we started the band about 3 years ago and had on average 2 practices a year until fall of 2004. At that point we went into the studio and ripped out the bones of the record during one of Jeremy's annual autumn visits. over the course of the next 9 months we coordinated long distance to craft the album, bringing in friends to add depth to our 2 man band sound and we played with adding extra instrumentation and vocal tracks. a lot of these songs have been around for years and it's fantastic to finally have them done! we finished the album just in time for JJ Diamond of SOUTHEAST OUTLAW records to get wind of it and offer to put it out for us. A dream come true for sure! Initially it's only in CD format but vinyl is forthcoming eventually...."-Holly Morgan "Mournful soul blues country rock and roll it to you music with balls and boobs makes you want to dance with strangers, cry to the moon and drink a Lone Star alone under the stars."-anonymous The Headliners consist of Holly Morgan (Juanita Family & Friends, the Nearly Deads, the Pist'uns) on drums and tamborine and Jeremy Terry (Juanita Family & Friends, Beerchaser,End of the West,Passed Out Flyers,Miss Roe & the Royal Family, The HeartThorns, Victor)on Harmony Rocket, Danelectro baritone and lapstee. They share vocal duties. This debut release offers eight original tracks along with that Elvis song, "Flaming Star", Bobby Timmon's "Moanin'" and good ol' Willie Nelson's "One Day at a Time". It also features guest appearances from Lana Rebel (Juanita Family & Friends, Last of the Juanitas) on guitar and vocals, Dylan Reilly (Juanita Family & Friends, Birds of War) on harmonica and bugle, and Amanda Mason Wiles on saxamaphone.
