    Eclectic I: Concertino 2009
Original a cappella folk fantasy, with multi-part close harmony. Folk, romantic, Renaissance, sci-fi, fantasy and Norse mythology themed pieces & parodies. Includes live tracks from our Club Passim concert and three from our Norse myth project, Sundown.
This CD was produced for Concertino 2009, so we could share the best tracks from our Club Passim concert as well as the finished Norse songs. The physical disc was a Concertino exclusive, but, due to many requests, we are making the tracks available for download. This CD represents the work of the Sassafrass members who were resident in the Boston area in 2008-2009, with new arrangements of some of our classic pieces. Sundown is an ongoing project, a Norse mythological song cycle centering around the death of the sun god Baldur. We hope Sundown will be finished in 2010/2011. The three sections collected here are the title track, Sundown, which depicts Baldur's murder; My Brother, My Enemy, a duet for Odin and Loki; and The Futhark Song, which teaches the Norse runic alphabet. Sassafrass originated at Bryn Mawr College, but the current incarnation gathered in the Boston area and has been performing in the east coast sci-fi and filk circuit. As of summer '09; a number of our members have dispersed to different states, so we expect to be performing in smaller groups but in a wider range of locations in future. For lyrics, sheet music, preview tracks, and more information, visit: http://adapalmer.com/sassafrass/ Note: Six of these tracks, including the three from Sundown, also appear identically on Eclectic II: Prophecies and Lies. The other ten appear only on this CD.
