Marty Dread's sixth and newest full length CD, "On The Beach", was nominated for "Best Reggae Album of the Year" at the 25th annual Na Hoku Hanohano awards by members of the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts.
The title song, featuring east coast reggae veteran Fyah Wyah, is dedicated to world champion board surfer, Sunny Garcia, and all surfers and water people worldwide.
Other standout tracks include, "Where Have All The Hawaiians Gone?" which features the Hawaiian Homeboy, Leiohu Ryder, and Alika. It calls for Native Hawaiians living abroad to return to their homeland. "Going Back to Tahiti" features local stars, Oshen and Fiji. The patriotic anthem, "United We Stand", has fast become a local hit.
On this release, Marty Dread collaborates with up-and-coming talents such as the Waena Boyz on "Wicked and Wild", singing sensation Irie Love on the duet "Not Ready Yet", and songbird Nara Boone from Maui's award-winning production "Ulalena" on the song "No One Understands".
Also included are two live tracks showcasing Marty Dread's uncanny ability to light up any audience. "Free and Single," was recorded in front of thousands of fans in Papeete, Tahiti. The ode to current world affairs, "Live and Let Live," was recorded live in Honolulu, Hawaii.
With clarity and purpose, Marty Dread has created a poignant and catchy masterpiece for music lovers everywhere.
